In 2023, The Government of Canada released a National Action Plan to end the pandemic that domestic violence has become. The plan emphasizes primary prevention approaches that address the root causes, in order to stop violence before it occurs. Engaging all people in Canada is the key for change.

This simple classroom toolkit, themed “Peace Begins at Home”, is one of many responses to this plan from Genesis House.  This toolkit is designed for elementary students, but elements can be adapted for older students as well. We also invite your classes to participate in our Drop the Puck Art Contest, with the prompt “What does PEACE mean to you?”. We hope you can find ways to engage in these important conversations with your students, and look forward to creating more toolkits in the future to help guide you!
