Client Support Counsellor
Genesis House is looking for compassionate, self directed, and adaptable individuals to fill our Client Support Counsellor positions. We have casual and part time openings available.
Some of the responsibilities include:
*Answering the crisis line
*Being an active listener
*Ensuring the care of families that need our help
*Helping people start over (being good at Varagesale and HelloGoodbuy is an asset!)
This might be the job for you if:
*you like variety, there are no two days the same!
*people seem to talk to you about things – big and small
*your cup gets filled by helping others
If you have a passion for helping others and believe that people should be able to live life free of violence this opportunity may be what you are looking for. The position includes days, evenings and nights as well as every other weekend.
We appreciate the following:
*Education in Social Work, or human ecology, or applied counselling (these are not deal breakers)
*Experience working with people (you like them and they seem to like you!)
*Ability to work on your own, and with a team
*Eager to learn
*Good written and verbal communication skills
*Strong comfort level with diversity
*Desire to help others (even if you don’t always get a “thank you”)
