ith the soaring costs of housing, securing safe and stable accommodation has become increasingly challenging for everyone, especially for survivors. Upon leaving shelter only 12% of women depart to their own housing, mostly beyond their means, and the remaining 88% of women remain temporarily sheltered or return to their abuser.
Research has shown that housing remains one of the leading barriers for women escaping violence and that domestic violence is one of the main causes of homelessness among Canadian families.
Genesis House is embarking on a new project to address this growing need in our community.
